FAQ

What are the differences between the notes and parent activities?

The note’s function allows you to keep a digital record of points of interest as you progress through the videos. Notes are for your own reference. Parent/Caregiver activities are specific tasks that relate to the videos you’ve watched and will follow the core videos.

Can I skip videos, activities, or modules?

Each module features core videos and specific Big Worries/Fears condition videos. It is best to watch all of the core videos so that you have a greater understanding of the content for that module. The activities do not need to be completed; however, they are there for your own reference and may assist you in your application of the tools. You cannot skip full modules.

Can I watch all the videos at once?

No. You will be asked to progress through the videos one module at a time. We want you to have time to integrate your learning and to work with your coach on the skills that are covered in each section. Once you have watched the videos in a module and completed a coaching session, the coach will release the next module to you, it will be made available to you on the Parent Portal.

How do I contact my coach with questions?

The coach will provide you with both their CMHA phone number and their email address in an introductory email.

Who do I talk to for tech support?

Please contact your coach if you need technical support and they can follow up with our IT team.

Can my coach see which videos I’ve watched?

Yes. When your coach logs in to the Parent Portal, they will see how many videos and activities you have completed in the specific module for that week.  Coaches may send a gentle reminder mid-week for you to watch the videos prior to your next coaching session.

Do I need to watch the videos before my call with my coach, or can I catch up afterwards?

Yes, you must watch the videos before having a call with your coach. The videos contain the tools, skills, and general information about Big Worries/Fears that the program is intended to deliver. You will have the most success with this program if you begin each coaching session familiar with the topics covered in that module.

How long will the videos be available after we have completed the program?

Parents/Caregivers will have access to the videos for six months after completing of the program.

When and how often should I talk to my coach?

The Big Worries, Strong Spirit, Parent Caregiver Support Program is a Parent/Caregiver-led guided self-help that works best with regular coaching support. Our coaches can answer questions, support and guide you through the process of learning and practicing these new skills with your child. During your introductory call with your coach, you can choose the times and frequency of sessions that work best for you and your family.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule at coaching session?

Please contact your coach via email to reschedule your coaching session.

Please note: There is a maximum of two missed coaching appointments with or without notice for the program (extenuating circumstances not withstanding). Missed coaching sessions includes Parent/Caregiver not being prepared and available at time of scheduled session.

If Parent/Caregiver does not pick up the phone at time of scheduled session, coaches will leave a voicemail and will make contact five minutes later. If Parent/Caregiver is still not available, a second voicemail will be left notifying the family that the session will need to be rescheduled.

Who do I contact if I have questions or concerns about the program?

Should you have any concerns or feedback during the course of the program please contact, Kate Longpre by email at kate.longpre@cmha.bc.ca.
